How does your school create its weekly or termly newsletter? If, like many, you're still using PowerPoint, Publisher or another type of publication software, it's time to consider Microsoft Sway.
The creation of a school newsletter should not be that dreaded task that the same member of staff is tasked with. It should be an exciting opportunity to celebrate and share the learning that has taken place.
Sway is a
Photographs, images and videos immediately enhance any newsletter and make it more interactive and engaging.
Once person could still be responsible for creating the template and creating copies of it for use by staff each week. The share links can be distributed via email, Teams, or stored on your internal learning environment or intranet.
Less time is wasted formatting content and instead spent collecting and celebrating children's learning.
If you're using Seesaw in your school, you can click the 3 dots next to children's posts and select the option to 'Share Post'. Use the embed code to make the post accessible within your Sway publication.
It isn't immediately obvious how to download a video from Seesaw, but if you full screen the video and click the 3 dots in the bottom right corner, you'll find the download option. You can then upload this video to Sway.
It may be worthwhile having someone proof read the newsletter before it's sent out.
And remember.... share the public link with the option changed to 'view' when distributing with your parents and school community.
